Over the past 15 years, François Paolini has continually sought to cultivate his
passion for images, with a capital I:
Tired of a career as a top executive in large companies, he joined the SYGMA Agency
in 1989 as a staff photojournalist and covered several key stories, including
“Paris Police: The Night Brigades,” “Moscow: In the Slums of the USSR,”
“Zâbbalin in Cairo,” “Sioux Indians: Return to Wounded
Knee” and “Rumania 1990.” These were published in the greatest
international magazines, including Paris Match and GEO in France, Newsweek in America,
Focus in Japan, Stern and GEO in Germany.
1990 saw his journalistic talent crowned on the world stage when he received the
prestigious World Press Photo Award for a two-year study of delinquency from East to
West (Moscow- Paris- Los Angeles). His photographic talent was confirmed by his
participation in the 1990 and 1994 events of the greatest world festival of photojournalism,
“Visa pour L'Image.”
Between 1993 and 1998, he authored these books and exhibitions: ‘ANI, Capital
of the Thousand Year’ (Paris- Musees / 2001), Normandie (published by
Gallimard / 1996), Soleils Noirs (published by Decalage Image / 1995), 44-94
Regards (published by Moulin Vieux / 1994) and Zâbbalin (published by
Nathan / 1989).
Since 1999 he has worked in close collaboration with the most famous choreographer
of the 20th century, Maurice Béjart, distinguishing himself in the photography of
top-level productions on the world's greatest stages. In addition to the job of
Communications Director, he produces all the iconography for Maurice Béjart's latest
creations and supervises the graphic sequences for all of the Béjart Ballet' visual
media. And since 2002, François Paolini has fallen in love with the City of Las
Vegas. |
